Topgun, Hotshot and championships

Post by rf94z »

Could one of you autocross experts provide an explanation of the topgun and hotshot designations? Eg, what are they and how does a driver qualify for the designation? Also, can you clarify if there is a season-ending championship ranking by points? Is that posted anywhere?

Thanks!

Top gun is for the people who have won the season in Kelowna or Vernon, hotshot is for everyone else so they don’t have to be constantly compete with the top gun drivers and then once they are at the top of hotshot or do well in a season they get to move on over. We usually do points throughout the season taking 75% of the events in account and dropping the poor or missed ones. It is currently not posted for this year yet as we haven’t done enough events for it to be worthwhile.

Gotcha, that helps. So is this concept of topgun and hotshot specific to Okanagan autocross or is this something that's done throughout the sport?

There are a few other clubs that do it as well, one of those that comes to mind is UBCSCC.
